Cursed (Book 1 of the Thorne Trilogy) By R.K. Ryals

Cursed Blurb:

A grimoire. A witch. A Demon.

Ellie Elizabeth Jacobs, often known as Monroe due to her fascination with vintage attire and old movies, is an 18 year-old witch and a darned good one! But there is also something very wrong with her. Demonic energy makes her powers stronger, she has the ability to ward off Demons, and Lucifer wants her.

Sometimes being bad is better. Or at least that's how Luther "Thorne" Craig feels. The hybrid Demon son of the cursed Cain and the Demon Lilith, Luther is reluctantly sent to New Orleans, Louisiana by his brother, the hybrid Demon ruler of the Outer Levels of Hell, to protect Monroe from Lucifer's searching Hellhounds.

But what happens when things go wrong?

In this riveting spin off from R.K. Ryals' Redemption series, Monroe is faced with an old grimoire, an ancient curse, and a journey to discover a family secret that may surprise them all.

Yeah right sure photo yeah-right_zps7d585098.gif Okay I know right? I mean that is just too much awesomeness to fit in one book? Boy, were we soooo wrong!! Check out my review below to find out why . . .

Okay, whoa whoa. Shut the front door! Words can’t even begin to explain how excited I was when I found out there was going to be a Monroe/Luther book,
 photo f-yeah_zps929315f0.gif

Yeah pretty much that reaction right there. I was over the moon ecstatic about it. And when all was said and done, Ms. Ryals did not disappoint. (Not that I could ever doubt her.)

All families have their secrets, but most won’t kill you. Unfortunately for Ellie Jacobs (aka Monroe, queen of all things vintage) that wasn’t the case. With her best friend in love and bound to a demon, Monroe is use to all hell breaking loose, just not on her front door.

With a race against time, Monroe’s family tries everything to sever her ties with everything demonic. You see, after a wicked showdown with Lucifer himself, it was brought to everyone’s attention that she could manipulate demonic energy. Everyone including the She-Demon, Lilith and whatever Lilith wants, she gets.

And thanks to a magical mishap by her younger cousin, NeeCee more than just Roe is now in danger. With the hybrid Demon Luther Craig by her side, she is thrown into a journey into her family history whether she wants to or not. Yet, it isn’t just her past that disturbs her so…it’s how Luther affects her body and soul.

Oh no one writes Demons quite like R.K. Ryals! *swoon* I can’t get enough of the Craig brothers. I do mean EVER. The humor between Monroe and Luther is laugh out loud funny, (look for the tramp stamp people) but don’t be mistaken, the tender moments will break you in two.

I can’t get enough of this universe. Seriously. Fast-paced, engaging and wonderfully original; only out of the mind of Ms. Ryals could there be so much awesomeness in one book. Oh yeah. It is that good. Can’t wait for more Roe and Luther!

This book was just too great not to have a Q&A with R.K. Ryals!

It’s no secret that I am madly in love with these characters and wish their tales would go on forever but I do know this is a trilogy, but with that said, do you see this universe expanding into other side stories?

I actually do see this series expanding. I think this world has grown too much to let it go. The Swords of Solomon, the gargoyles, the Outer Levels of Hell, The seers, Hunters, witches, the Exiled Angels, and the hybrid children of Lilith and Cain ... the world has gotten huge, and there are so many stories to tell, other characters that have been introduced that I find too fascinating to let go. I am also devising a new adult/adult series about Dayton and Marcas called the Outer Levels of Hell.

*squeeeeee* Best, News. Ever. Okay, I just love the snarkiness of Ms. Monroe and I think it blends seamlessly with Luther’s darkness. Will we be seeing more of that banter in book two? You know I had to ask…*swoon* Luther. . . *insert dreamy sigh*  Move over, Marcas . . . Luther is giving you a run for your money . . .

LOL! You will definitely see more of the banter! I love Luther. He and Marcas are so much alike, and yet different in so many ways. Marcas is a crusader, a dark, silent lord with an iron fist who takes the weight of the hybrids on his shoulder. He is a Demon, but he has a cause, and in many ways, a good heart. Luther, on the other hand is bad, and he is okay being that way. He's not the quiet type, and he has no real desire to change. I love this about him. I love that he straddles the middle ground, but is okay with the fact that he prefers the dark side. And Monroe is a firecracker. She is a challenge for Luther.

Okay, so we have had Marcas/Dayton’s trilogy and two books of Conor/Emma and now the start of Monroe/Luther . . . when will be see Lucas' story??

Lucas is such an interesting character, mainly because he plays such a strong supporting role in both the Redemption and Thorne series. I like him as a supporting character, but I have been thinking a lot about Lucas lately and the reasons why he fell and why he's okay consorting with Demons but fears becoming one. Lucas is a tormented character. As the author, I know this, and I don't delve as deeply in his story as I could because I do have plans for him in the future. I'm not sure when or if his series will come to fruition soon, but I do have plans for Lucas. Great plans. lol

You big tease! *grins* Okay last one. Without spoiling the story, I will say that my favorite thing about Luther (yes, I am going back to that sexy demon) is that he doesn’t try to be anything but himself. And with Monroe? What’s not to love about her? She is pure fire! So here is my question . . . am I close with whom I picked on how you see the two?

You are very close to how I see these two, especially with Monroe. Just got to trim the hair on Luther *winks*. I agree with you when it comes to these characters. Luther has a wild side, and he embraces it rather than fighting it. He seriously loves being who he is. Which is going to have some interesting effects on the rest of the series. And Monroe is my vintage queen. She loves the past and lives in shades of black and white. She has so much room to grow.

*squeee* Thank you for gracing our little blog again and big congrats on this awesome release!!!!
