Blue Plague: The Fall by Thomas A. Watson

Blue Plague: The Fall by Thomas A. Watson

Quotes from Jacqueline Driggers review of:
Blue Plague: The Fall by Thomas A. Watson

"It all starts in the Congo, with 3 American volunteers and 2 native guides. If only they hadn't gotten out of the Congo.

But when the world went to hell in a hand basket, two families had been preparing for that for a while. As it turns out, it was a good thing."

Anne Nelson

AMAZING!!!!! Highly recommend.

...
Firstly, thank you so much Author Julie Cassar from the *tip of my angel wingz* for “Gift”ing me your spectacular beautiful novel of “Ruby Blue”. I LOVE IT….

To follow is my fair and unbiased review

Ruby Blue is my introduction to Fey land, and I’m hooked… yep Ruby, Anya and Brennan reeled me in. YAY

What a delightful, fun and extremely well written adventure they all take…. It’s almost like I was right there along side Ruby and her friends, I could see Ruby down on her knees whispering to Anya and Brennan in the garden as I flew through the pages.

I have three other Fey/Fairy novels that will be devoured soon, just as fast as I can, plus two new ones soon to arrive!!!!

Note to self: Read in-between my other books.

I’m not going to summarize the story to much, because there are many awesome reviews doing that already. But I must say this… Julie Cassar is an extremely talented author who has captivated and snagged a new reader, introducing them to the magical, beautiful world of Fey. ME !!!

The Ruby Blue Series is a must read in my opinion… Cue the next book, Deja Blue here I come.

Elegantly Undead (Book One in Coffin Girls Series) By Aneesa Price

My review of Elegantly Undead (Coffin Girls #1) By Aneesa Price
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Carrie Perkins-Cunningham

I was gifted this book by the wonderful Aneesa for an honest review and I can't thank her enough!!

Coffin Girls is a fabulous beginning to what is going to be an excellent series and I can't recommend this book enough to anyone looking for a new read! I started this on Thursday night and finished Friday afternoon! It was so good I dreaded putting it away just so I could actually sleep!
...

Anais, one of the original Coffin Girls sent from France centuries ago, is a vampire on her own two feet. With the help of her four sisters, a handsome young wolf, and Miss Suzette- a voodoo mama who rules with a wooden spoon, she runs Pappilion Plantation, a gorgeous plantation in New Orleans that caters to party's and weddings to those looking for a magical memory. To her maker, Yves, she is the perfect woman- beautiful, submissive and the perfect hostess, but Anais and her sisters have secrets that not even the Vampire Council knows.

A gorgeous Prince of Witches, Connal is on a mission of his own, one that puts him in the sights of Anais, and a situation that he knows is far darker that he sees on the surface, but when the Goddess tells him he must agree to the Vampire- Witch union, he is unable to say no.

Secrets, kidnappings, powers that have hidden for centuries, evil Vampires and excruciatingly hot lust, make this book absolutely fabulous, and I am dying to know what happens next in a series that I wouldn't be surprised to make the New York Times list.

I give this book five stars and hope that everyone that reads this finds as much joy in the words as I have.

Incandescent by M.v. Freeman

My review for: Incandescent by M.v. Freeman
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Shanna Roberson

*I was lucky enough to have received an advanced reader’s copy of Incandescent in exchange for an honest review.

First let me say that is this the hardest book to write a review for. Not because I didn’t enjoy it but because the depth of M.v. Freeman’s world is so complex that it is hard to find the right words to do it justice.

Incandescent has it all from a totally kickass heroine to sexy Russian alpha males. From page one; M.v. Freeman draws you in to a world full of Elementals, Mages and a vampire like species called the Darks, all living secretly among humans and desperately at war with one another.

Mikhail Petrov, a powerful Tri-elemental, has known death and suffering at the hands of the corrupted Mage for years. He has watched them brutally drain his younger sister of her power without a second thought until there was nothing left of her. Their greed of power so profound that they would do anything to become more powerful even enslaving young elementals if that would aid in total dominance over all the fractions. And it has been that way for years because no one dare challenge the tyranny of the Mage.
But the rules of the game changed when Mikhail stumbled across a rare and very powerful fire Elemental called an Incandescent.
Now Mikhail has all the tools he needs to start a war against the Mage and stop the injustice done to his people once and for all.

Laurie Hudson keeps everyone at a distance; only allowing her two best friends to get close enough to her to know that she is special. Not in the wonderfully unique sense of the word, but the kind of special as in the ‘make me angry enough and shit starts to burn’ kinda way. Literally catch the world on fire. Laurie is an Incandescent and one of the most powerful fire elemental in years. But all of this is unknown to her. Instead of thinking her unique ability to spontaneously combust a gift, she shies away from using it at all. She only wants to be normal and not have to worry about burning her loved ones to death. Little did she know that her whole world was about to be ripped out from under her when Mikhail throws her into the thick of a war she wants no part of.

Lines are crossed and feelings deepen as Mikhail trains her to be his secret weapon. Neither one of them are prepared for the undeniable attraction they have for one another.

Will Mikhail be able to let go of his need for vengeance against the Mages in order to keep Laurie as his? Will Laurie be able forgive him for the horrible act he commits against her in his quest of vengeance?

I really can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed this book. Hands down, it’s my favorite read so far this year. Incandescent is beautifully written and terribly addictive. M.v. Freeman is one debut author you can’t overlook.

In My Dreams by Cameo Renae

My review for: In My Dreams
Cameo Renae

Firstly, thank you do much Author Cameo Renae for the phenomenal “Gift” of your amazing novel, “In My Dreams”.

...
What an amazing must read for all paranormal romance lovers. My heart was breaking for the two main characters, Lizzy and Michael as I was flying through this book.

NOTE:
Keep a tissue box close at hand as you immerse yourself in this spectacular read.

Lizzy patiently waiting for the love of her life Michael to arrive and pick her up for a very special date. She falls asleep on her couch while waiting…
Only to be awakened by a traumatic phone call, with the devastating news of Michael being in a car accident.

Lizzy is heartbroken as her perfect life with Michael is suddenly torn away from her in a flash… The struggles that she goes through are so “real to life” as Lizzy is wrapped up in finding out the true truth of how her soul mate died, and how she is going to survive without him in her life.

She is having strange very detailed occurrences while she is dreaming. She has like a front row seat of her Michaels death. And who had actually murdered him!!! Grrr, so not fair.

Lizzy can and does make contact with Michael, but only through her dreams. Michael is trying to help her find his killer, and she is also experiencing things along the way like being able to do things that they hadn’t managed to do together while he was still alive. (totally awesome, I know right?)

Michael helps her survive against being kidnapped by the same person who had murdered him. The murderer is now after Lizzy.

Ok, I’m giving away to much again of the story, so with that being said I will say this:
“In My Dreams” is a epic paranormal romance, unlike no other that I have read or seen, he love of Michael and Lizzy is so pure it warms your own heart, and yet it will also break it at the same time… it’s a precious gifted love, inspiring you to believe that yes, there is a love that is so gripping as theirs.

In My Dreams is so full of thrilling rides, and I do mean “rides” with unexciting events that will take you around corners faster than ever. Cameo Renae gives us everything in hr debut novel, that most definetly leaves you eagerly waiting to wee when her next novel is due out.

~~ A love that is truly magical ~~

Crimson Groves by Ashley Robertson

My review for: Crimson Groves (Crimson Series)
Ashley Robertson

I was lucky enough to have won “Crimson Groves” as a first reads on goodreads, and I have to say that it was a excellent and spectacular book!!! WOW what a book.

...
Thank you so much Author Ashley Robertson for the chance to enjoy “Crimson Groves”, the first in the series.

Crimson Groves revolves around the main character Abby, who works as a bartender at a upscale restaurant. Abby has been going through a huge rough patch in her life for the last 6 months.
She receives a phone call from her estranged father out of the blue on night at work, and he wasn’t calling to catch up on things or even to say sorry for walking out on her and her mother all those years ago!!! Nope, he was calling for one reason only… to WARN her, to tell her that they know HOW SPECIAL she is, and that they are coming after her!

Abbey doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about.

That very same day as she received the call from her father, a strikingly handsome man (Bronx) walks into the bar where she works, they seem to have a instant connection. (or is it?)
Abby welcomes the new found friendship, (I was yelling at Abby, NO….. watch out) after a couple of hours of chatting with him, when she gets off of work Bronx offers to walk her home, (yikes) he has a hidden interest in Abby… RUN Abby RUN, don’t go with him. Why oh why don’t kids listen to what their parents tell them? Don’t they know we say things for a reason? *shakes head*

Crimson Groves captivated me in the first chapter, and it had me totally surprised with all the paranormal unexpected twists and turns that were so well placed throughout the whole story. I found Ashley’s writing style so intriguing that I read this book in three nights!!! (I actually read it twice)

This paranormal book is packed full of suspense that will keep you reading well into the night, phenomenal characters, love, betrayal (LOTS), vampires, (love them) and o much more than I’m willing to say because it will give away some spoilers in Crimson Grove.

If you haven’t started this series yet you really are missing out on a spectacular read. And I suggest that you take a hard look at it… Author Ashley Robertson will have you hooked and coming back for more, and wanting more just like it has me. I LOVED, LOVED it and can’t wait to get my hands on book #2, Crimson Rain to see what’s happening to Abby.

Mental note to self:

Shadows & Voices (Holly Silverstone, #1) by Jason Ellis

My review for: Shadows & Voices; A Holly Silverstone adventure by Jason Ellis

Firstly, thank you Jay Ellis for the amazing “gift” of Shadow & Voices; Holly Silverstone adventure, I absolutely loved it. To follow is my fair and unbiased opinion.

...
Oh my goodness what a entertaining adventure of a book!!!! Thank you so very much Author Jason Ellis for this amazing trip that allowed my mind to travel back to my younger days, where a child’s mind was filled with imagination, and no fear of being scared to tackle an adventure….

Holly received a note, that she can only see, (this reminded me of invisible ink from when I was a kid) inviting her to attend Highlands Academy… a school for gifted children, one that schools them in their own particular gifts.
It teaches them about a “unseen” world; Obscura.

One of the teachers at Highlands Academy becomes her friend, Ovissa disappears one day and holly is bound and determined to find/save her no matter what the consequences are!!! Can Holly save Ovissa, using the detective skills she has learned from Ovissa? Will she be in time? I’m not going to say much more about the story, (others have done a fantastic summary)…. But I must dy this, Holly’s adventures are ones that I’m going to be following!!!

I need to see how far she will come with her schooling, how she uses her gifts, and heck ya, her next adventure :-D WELL DONE JASON ELLIS (Jay)

Although her adventures, I think are more for pre teen/YA, by no means don’t get me wrong. This series isn’t only for the younger generation, because I myself am WAY past my teenage years and I enjoyed it immensely!!!! *nods head, yes I did*

I eagerly await the next wild adventure of Holly… woot woot.

Violet Midnight by Lynn Rush

My review for: Violet Midnight by Lynn Rush
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Shanna Roberson

I was lucky enough to receive an e-ARC of Violet Midnight by Lynn Rush and it was everything I hope it would be!

Emma Martin is doing the best she can but sometimes it's hard. Trying to balance college and killing the undead is beyond tiring. Good thing, she didn’t sleep anymore. Not ever since her strange glowing tattoo appeared and marked her a Hunter. Now she has no need for food or sleep and with a personal vendetta against the filthy bloodsuckers, she only lives for ridding the world of all of them. That was until one boy stumbled into her chaotic life.

Jake Cunningham knows he is different from other 24 years but he just wants to try to survive college life. A change in his appetite and sleep patterns was the first tip off something was wrong but pretty soon the need for both vanished completely and he never understood why. And if that wasn’t weird enough, the fact his skin was impermeable was a total sign something big was in the works for him.

Out with his friends one night, he stumbled across the loveliest of girls with bright violet eyes and strawberry scented skin. She was perfect and something in him hummed with awareness of their connection. She was meant for him. But before he could approach her, she was gone.
When the sound of fighting brought him around to the back of the house, what he saw was unbelievable. This tiny female was holding her own against these creatures that looked almost human but bared fangs like animals! After that night, nothing would ever be the same again for either of them.

I adore a kick-butt heroine and Emma rocks the slayer role like a pro! She is witty, caring and one hell of a firecracker. She is the perfect ying to Jake’s yang. Lynn Rush couldn’t have made more real characters if she tried. Violet Midnight is a fast paced, adrenaline pumping tale with just the right amount of romance; it’s the perfect story.
I love her unique twist on evil vampires and as much as I love my sexy vampires, this twist is refreshing. My only problem with the book is that I am afraid I'll have to wait forever for the next one!

Winter in Paradise by T.C. Archer

My review for: Winter in Paradise by T.C. Archer
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Shanna Roberson

*I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchanged for an honest review.

Major Kelly Andres and Major Byron Grayson are part of a recuse you group called Onyx and are stationed at the end of a wormhole. The terrain is a frozen hellish land with subzero temperatures and overrun with Kirsovals, a human genetic experiment gone wrong.

With most of the galaxy forced into slavery by their hand, the Kirsovals sought out the wormhole to conquer even more territory but Onyx thwart their plans and now they wanted their pound of flesh. The war was coming of that they were certain but the question was when?

Even though this story was around 38 pages, the author made the most of those pages. Opening the book with characters that are already emotional involved and right off the bat, their love was tested in a time of great peril.

Being a huge fan of science fiction, I would love to see more storylines like Winter in Paradise. It’s exciting, sexy and leaves you wanting more.

T.C. Archer is a very gifted writer and I look forward to reading more from her.
